MaryEllen Linnehan, Esq.
MaryEllen Linnehan, Esq., an accomplished attorney specializing in Collaborative Practice, is President, New York Association of Collaborative Professionals (NYACP). In this role, she guides the growth and direction of the organization, works with the board of directors to set policy and strategy and oversees its numerous committees.
Since 2005, Linnehan has been a partner at Day & Linnehan Center for Collaborative Law and Divorce Mediation PLLC in New York City and Mount Kisco, New York. The Center assists families in achieving comprehensive, non-adversarial out of court settlements in matrimonial and family law conflicts. Prior to that, she ran the Law & Mediation Offices of MaryEllen Linnehan in New York City and Rye, New York, focusing on Collaborative Law and Divorce Mediation. Linnehan also has experience in general, employment, and civil rights law litigation.
Ms. Linnehan is an accomplished and dynamic speaker. She frequently presents on divorce mediation and collaborative practice topics to the Association of the Bar of the City of New York, the Westchester Women’s Bar Association, and the Family and Divorce Mediation Council of Greater New York. She also serves as an instructor for continuing legal education seminars on divorce mediation, collaborative law, and the interdisciplinary model of collaborative practice at Pace University School of Law in White Plains, New York. A talented writer, Linnehan was an adjunct instructor in fiction writing at Brown University, Yeshiva University, Stern College, and the Gotham Writers’ Workshop.
Linnehan is admitted to the Bars of New York and Massachusetts, as well as to the U.S. District Court in the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York and the District of Massachusetts. She has served as NYACP director since 2004 and is a member of the International Academy of Collaborative Professionals, the Family & Divorce Mediation Council of Greater New York, for whom she served as director and vice president, the New York State Council on Divorce Mediation, the New York State Bar Association Family Law Section, the Westchester Women’s Bar Association, and the Association of the Bar of the City of New York.
A graduate of the Boston University School of Law, Ms. Linnehan won the Stone Moot Court Competition and was chosen to represent the law school in the Jessup International Moot Court Competition. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree, cum laude, in Biology and English from Tufts University and a Master’s degree in Fine Arts from Brown University.
Ms. Linnehan lives with her husband, three children, dog, cat, and several rabbits in Chappaqua., New York. In her free time, she enjoys reading, especially Shakespeare, creative writing, and traveling.
