Charles McEvily , Esq.

Mr. McEvily has concentrated his practice in the area of matrimonial law since he was admitted to practice in the State of New York in 1974. 2007-2008 "Super-Lawyer" (top 5% in Family Law NY metro area)"

Mr. McEvily is a Fellow of the prestigious American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers and is one of the few matrimonial mediators on Long Island to have received mediation certification by that Academy.

Mr. McEvily is included in Who’s Who in American Law and is on the faculty of the National Institute for Trial Advocacy. He is a member of the Matrimonial and Family Law Committees of the Nassau County and New York State Bar Associations and was on the Board of Directors of the Legal Aid Society of Nassau County.

He is a founding Barrister and a current Master of the New York Family Law American Inn of Court, a group which is committed to enhancing the professional, academic and ethical qualities of legal advocacy in the field of domestic relations. He has published in the American Bar Association’s Family Advocate Journal and the New York State Bar Association's Family Law Review. He is on the Board of Editors and is a contributing author for The Matrimonial Strategist, a nationwide newsletter published by Law Journal Newsletters.

He has lectured at the Bar Associations of New York, Rockland and Nassau County on the topic of equitable distribution. He has been a guest on radio and television programs, including the CBS program 60 Minutes. He has also lectured to the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants (Forensic Services Committee) and the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners. Mr. McEvily serves on the Early Neutral Evaluation Panels in both Nassau and New York Counties and serves as an arbitrator of matrimonial fee disputes under the auspices of the Nassau Bar Association Judiciary Committee.

While Mr. McEvily has always concentrated his practice in the area of matrimonial law, between 1974 and 1979, he was a full-time special professor of law at Hofstra University School of Law where, in addition to teaching domestic relations law, he was the executive director of all of the clinical litigation programs.

Mr. McEvily was the attorney on one of three cases selected by the Nassau County Bar Association as a “Case of the Century.”
