Sol Barrocas , Esq.

Mr. Barrocas has been a member of the Bar of the State of New York for more than thirty-three (33) years. He received his J.D. from Brooklyn Law School in 1972 and was admitted to the State of New York - 2nd Judicial Department in 1973; the United States District Court of New York, Eastern District in 1974; the United States District Court of New York, Southern District in 1975; and the United States Court of Appeals for the 2nd Circuit in 1975.
He is a partner in the law firm of BARROCAS & RIEGER, LLP. After having served as an Assistant District Attorney in Kings County, he entered private practice in 1977 and has devoted his practice exclusively to Matrimonial and Family Law since 1982. He has handled all phases of Matrimonial Law, including numerous trials and appeals.
He is currently a member of the:
(a) New York State Bar Association - Family Law Section and serves on the Executive Committee, Membership Committee, Child Custody Committee, Legislative Committee and as Chair of the Family Court Committee;
(b) Nassau County Bar Association and serves on the Matrimonial Committee (previously served as Co-Chair of the Child Custody Subcommittee and Co-Chair of Legislative Subcommittee), Family Court Law and Procedure Committee and as Chair of the Lawyer Referral Committee;
(c) Suffolk County Bar Association and serves on the Matrimonial Committee.
(d) New York Family Law American Inn of Court and holds position of Barrister.
He has prepared written materials for New York State Bar Association CLE, “How to Handle a Custody Case”, as well as drafted articles for the New York Family Law American Inn of Court on “Modification of Child Support”.
He has lectured on behalf of the New York State Bar Association Continuing Legal Education Programs on Basic Matrimonial Practice - Subject areas: “Practice Management and Ethics” and “How to Handle a Custody Case”; participated in Continuing Legal Education programs for the Nassau County Bar Association Matrimonial Committee and Nassau Academy of Law; Suffolk County Bar Association-Academy of Law - Subject area: Examination and Cross-Examination of Forensic Psychiatrists; , St. John’s University Law School - Subject area: Drafting Custody Agreements; and Touro Law School - Power Point Presentation re: Preparing Net Worth Affidavits.
He is an Adjunct Faculty Member for Hofstra University School of Law - National Institute of Trial Advocacy and an Adjunct Professor for the Queens College Paralegal Program. He has chaired New York State Bar Association-Family Law Section programs for Hofstra University-School of Law students.
He has acted as a Mediator and/or consulting attorney in divorce mediations having received training and certification from the Center of Mediation and Law..
He has been certified as a Collaborative Lawyer and successfully completed the training program administered by the New York Association of Collaborative Professionals.
He is an Arbitrator of Matrimonial Attorney/Client Fee Disputes.
He has been awarded an AV Rating by Martindale Hubbell.
